As a cyclist you want to wear the right clothes. This varies from season to season, depending on the temperature and weather. Of course you will wear long trousers in winter while you want to wear a short one in the summer.

A tip: the first 10–15 minutes of your ride should feel ‘chilly’, once after your warm-up you have reached the right temperature and this will remain the same throughout the ride. So don’t leave if you find yourself dressed way too hot, this is only going to lead to inconveniences.

In this article we discuss clothing per season.

You invariably work in layers, this is the same in all seasons. The difference lies in the quantity and materials of the layers. First you put on an underlay, which ensures that your body stays warm and that your sweat is drained. This prevents a warm haunting sensation. You can put on a shirt with long or short sleeves depending on the temperature.

As a second layer you choose a shirt with long or short sleeves, again it is best to take a look at the weather forecast and the outside temperature. Arm pieces are useful for fresh mornings and warmer afternoons, these pieces can be taken off easily when you get too hot. They weigh almost nothing and they fit smoothly in your back pocket.
